It sounds nothing like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, even with the band's former guitarist John Frusciante involved.

Kimono Kult is a super group that features Frusciante, former Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and four more performers.

The band released their debut EP, Hiding in the Light, on March 4.

You can stream the entire EP at Consequence of Sound.

The band describes the EP as "four songs of electro/dub/afro-beat/avant-freak/jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy.”

So, if you're interested in that, give it a listen.

The lyrics on the EP are on Spanish.  Singer Teri Gender Bender tells Rolling Stone why.  "Because Spanish-speaking singers are strict with so many unspoken rules, I approached my mother language as if I were an alien from outer space. That was the mindset."
