Halsey Blasts Victoria's Secret Fashion Show For 'Lack Of Inclusivity'

Halsey is standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in light of Victoria's Secret's latest controversy.

Last month, the "Colors" singer was among the multitude of artists who performed at the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as models Adriana Lima, Kendal JennerWinnie Harlow, and others ripped the runway during the pre-taped special, which aired Sunday night (December 2).

However, the annual fashion function was met with unwanted contention after chief marketing officer Ed Razek renounced the thought of having transgender and plus-sized models walk the show.

"It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should," Razek told Vogue. "Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. … That’s what it is."

As a self-identified bisexual, Razek's insensitive remarks didn't sit well with the musician — nor a score of others — so she decided to mitigate his stiff sentiments with a reassuring letter.

“I have adored the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since I was young. Performing this year alongside other amazing artists, and hardworking models/friends was supposed to be the best night of my year,” Halsey writes in a note via Twitter.

She continued: "However … some comments were made regarding the show that I simply cannot ignore. … As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype."

The artist proceeded to use her message to inspire fans to donate to a nonprofit called GLSEN: "an organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth," whom she herself has "made a sizeable donation in their honor."

In ending her note, Halsey signed off: “We stand in solidarity, and complete and total acceptance is the only ‘fantasy’ that I support.”
