BBC News Announces First LGBT News Correspondent

BBC has made history by announcing Ben Hunte as their first-ever LGBT News correspondent, as per a Thursday report (December 13).

After becoming the official presenter of BBC What's News' Newsround Africa, the network's first television program dedicated to children in Africa, Hunte has officially become a permanent part of the BBC correspondent family and is set to begin his duties in early 2019. "I'm delighted to be taking on this important new role for BBC News and I am looking forward to finding and telling stories from the LGBT community," Hunte said in a statement.

Hunte has previously worked on BBC’s Gay Britannia, which documented the 50th anniversary of The Sexual Offenses Act 1967. The act partially decriminalized gay sex. Hunte also regularly hosts a series of LGBTQ-themed radio shows on BBC Radio 4. If that wasn't enough to impress you, he became one of Google's youngest strategy managers at the age of 23 before completing an MA in journalism.
