Garrison Avenue Bridge closing for Governor Hutchinson's visit

Governor Hutchinson and other lawmakers are in Fort Smith today to survey the flooding damage. The Garrison Avenue Bridge temporarily closed at Noon for the visit. Gov. Asa Hutchinson is scheduled to give a news conference at 2 p.m. today (May 30) at the bridge after a flyover of the area by helicopter to view the flood damage. To prepare, officials annoucned the bridge will be closed to pedestrians at 1 p.m. The bridge should reopen once the governor’s visit there is concluded.The bridge should reopen once the governor’s visit there is concluded.

Governor Hutchinson is expected to do a press conference at 2pm following a fly-over in helicopter to view the damage.

Reminder: Do not cross barriers to see flood waters. It is dangerous and you could get ticketed.
